Marrakech – Ourika Valley –Marrakech

Spread out between the first foothills of the Atlas Mountains, the Ourika Valley extends itself up to the Wadi River. Despite being just a few hours out of Marrakech, this valley was once the most pristine of valleys in Morocco. 

Departing the Imperial City of Marrakech Marrakech in the morning, we will stop to visit the locally run cooperative making the world famous Argan oils. Used in makeup, skin and hair products, the Argan Oil has been touted as the “miracle ingredient” in the western beauty product industry. It has extremely high levels of Vitamin E and 80% fatty acids which make it perfect for healing many skin ailments as well as protecting against premature aging caused by oxidation. 

Next we will stop by a souk near the picturesque town of Zaouia. On Mondays, the largest souk of the area is held here. 

Moving through the valley, we will visit Setti Fatma, a favorite weekend resort of many Marrakshis that is appreciated for its beautiful streams. The tomb of Setti Fatma lies here too. 

After the tomb, we will drive around the valley enjoying views of high green terraces, surrounding Atlas peaks, rocky village foothills and the seven waterfalls that surround the village.
