Waterfall Escape
The Ouzoud Falls are a series of waterfalls that fall over the El-Abid River gorge in the province of Azilal. In French, they’re called Cascades d’Ouzoud and in Amazigh, it’s Imuzzar n wuẓuḍ.
There are 3 different drops and they all add up to 110m or 360ft high. The longest drop is 75m!
A part of an Ouzoud day trip is that there’s more to do than just seeing some incredible falls. In the same day you’ll be able to go swimming, do a little hiking, and maybe even have a monkey use you for a seat!
From Marrakech we reach the waterfalls of Ouzoud after 150 km of a road that takes many paths. And through magnificent landscapes dominated by the red of the earth, the dark green of the thuyas and the pale gray-green of the olive trees. While in Ouzoud it is also possible to take a boat trip on the falls.
The most famous waterfalls in Morocco are well worth the trip. Its waters bounce on several levels and project fine droplets into the air. The waterfalls are almost always highlighted by a beautiful rainbow.
You will find on the site Ouzoud waterfalls many small restaurants that serve traditional Moroccan cuisine. Or at the foot of the falls, you can sip a mint tea while watching the carousel of monkeys, admiring the rainbow over the waterfalls.
You can also cross the river by the wooden bridge or, with some dirhams, one of the small boats a little kitsch and baptized with humor “Le France”, “Le Phocéa” or “Le Titanic” will take you to the most near the falls.
The cascades of Ouzoud have all the charm to spend a sweet day. No wonder, Ouzoud means in Berber “Sweet”. Return to Marrakech in the afternoon.
